New to James Vivian?
Start With A Skin Consultation. Your skin, explained. Your plan, mapped. Your next step, obvious.
A Skin Consultation at James Vivian is an in-depth, clinician-led session where we look beyond the surface and get clear on what your skin is doing, why it might be doing it, and what will genuinely support it next.
You will complete a detailed consultation form beforehand, so we understand your skin history, what you have tried, what has helped, what has not, and what you are using now. From there, we combine clinical assessment with VISIA Skin Analysis imaging to build a personalised homecare plan and a treatment plan that fits your goals and lifestyle.
This consultation is for anyone beginning professional skin treatments with James Vivian. It’s our non-negotiable starting point, setting the foundation for everything that follows, so your treatment plan is based on your skin’s reality, not guesswork. Whether you’re coming in with a specific concern or you just know your skin has changed and you’re not sure why, this is where we start.
Before your appointment, you will complete a detailed skin consultation form covering factors such as previous treatments, current homecare, sensitivities, medications, lifestyle influences, and your goals.
In-clinic, your clinician will assess your skin and use advanced skin imaging technology to capture detailed photographs and provide additional insight into key skin features that can be difficult to evaluate by eye alone, including:
– Red or brown marks that can sit on the surface or linger after inflammation.
– Formation of lines and wrinkles.
– The overall smoothness of the skin, including roughness, bumps, and uneven surface changes.
– The look of pore size and visibility, including areas that tend to clog more easily.
– UV damage that can sit deeper than what you can see day to day.
– Uneven tone and discolouration that may show up as freckles, sun spots, or general pigment changes.
– Areas of persistent redness that may relate to flushing, irritation, or visible capillaries.
– Markers linked to bacteria in the pores, which can help us understand breakout behaviour and congestion.
From there, we map a treatment plan and homecare plan based on what your skin needs now, what it is likely to need next, and what is realistic to maintain.
This appointment is calm, conversational, and thorough. You can expect thoughtful questions, clear explanations, and plenty of time to talk through your concerns without feeling rushed. VISIA imaging is quick and non-invasive. Most clients leave feeling relieved, informed, and very clear on what to do next.
A Skin Consultation may not be the right fit if:
You’re looking for a one-off quick fix.
You want results tomorrow (or ideally yesterday).
You’re not open to a plan that builds over time.
You’re hoping we’ll recommend “everything” instead of what actually suits your skin.
You’d prefer to jump straight into treatment on day one.
For most clients, one Skin Consultation is enough to create a starting plan. Your clinician may suggest periodic reviews to assess progress, refine your homecare, and adjust your treatment schedule as your skin responds, stabilises, or enters a new phase.
If you would prefer a consultation and treatment in the same visit, our Signature Dermal Therapy Treatment + Consultation may be the better first step. Your clinician can also guide you toward alternative starting points depending on your concerns, time, and tolerance for downtime.
A $75 booking deposit is required to secure your appointment. This deposit can be rolled over to a future booking, applied toward product purchases, or used toward the cost of any future treatment.
