“Beauty comes from more than just serums and treatments, but it’s a great place to start.”
If anyone knows the power of good skincare, it’s James Vivian. In 2004, a facial literally changed his life, inspiring him to swap a career in music for one in dermal therapies. Determined to share the feel-good effects of amazing skincare, James launched award-winning mobile dermal therapies clinic, The Travelling Peelsman, in 2010. Arriving at homes and offices in a Mini and armed with his bag of tricks, James quickly earned a loyal following with his holistic approach to skincare, intuitive expertise and genuine commitment to his clients. Word spread and as client numbers grew, The Travelling Peelsman stopped travelling and set up a clinic in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, joined by a carefully selected team of experienced therapists.
Dubbed a skincare luminary, James’s dedication, care and innate understanding of the links between skin, mind, body and environment flow through his clinics, making each visit an experience that goes far beyond skincare.
“I love working with clients who are just beginning their skincare journey. It’s a whole new world for them.”
A drive to help clients and a desire to learn is what prompted Sonia to make the jump from beauty therapist to dermal therapist. With almost two decades of aesthetic industry experience, she has worked with doctors and surgeons across many different clinical settings. For Sonia, combining treatment modalities is one of the most rewarding parts of her work, allowing her to create personalised solutions that achieve faster results.
A devoted animal lover, there’s never a dull moment in Sonia’s house, where her two dogs and her cat are considered very important members of the family.
“I love the skin because it’s a beautiful complex system that works in sequence with millions of cells to heal, divide, protect and grow.”
Rach is an expert when it comes to the intrinsic link between wellbeing and skin. Her holistic approach to Dermal Therapies ensures that the bigger picture is always explored, and the root of the cause targeted. Knowing first hand the psychological ramifications troublesome skin can sometimes accrue, Rach’s warm and nurturing approach is the familiar force that fuels positivity- and results.
A true matriarch of the James Vivian family, Rach’s effective yet calm way of working is something truly unique!
Throughout Rach’s career, Rach has worked with some of Melbourne’s top medical and surgical practitioners. Whilst Rach has always loved supporting her clients in a pre- and post-surgical realm, Rach has never felt more at home with her clients since working alongside the James Vivian family.
“The most rewarding aspect is definitely following a clients journey -frustrations included, and watching their skin change for the better.”
Khyati’s infatuation with skin has been a constant since early childhood. A love affair that actually brought her to Australia to study a Bachelor of Dermal Sciences at Victoria University.
Her commitment to her craft is something that not only yields exceptional results, but an unwavering support to her clients.
Our resident expert when it comes to modalities like Plasma Pen, Khyati’s profound knowledge of technique and tool makes her a serious force to be reckoned with. Watch out acne, pigmentation and fine lines!
When she’s not thinking about skin, you can find Khyati moving to latin music, her rhythms of choice; Salsa, Bachata and Kizomba. Our very own dancing and dermal queen, we’re just waiting for the day these two worlds can collide..
“I believe we are an ecosystem—great skin relies on good skincare, a healthy body and a healthy mind.”
Whitney’s holistic approach to skincare makes her a natural addition to the James Vivian team. Proving you’re never too young for a good skincare routine, Whitney’s passion for skin stretches back further than she can remember. After gaining a wide range of experience as a beauty therapist and educator, Whitney completed her Bachelor of Dermal Sciences in 2019. Motivated by a family member’s skincare struggles, she has a particular interest in acne, scar revision and scar management.
When she’s not caring for complexions, you can find Whitney volunteering as a medic or obsessing over Lady Gaga.
“I find myself completing certificates in such things as Facial Reflexology which I incorporate in to my treatments, to help healing from within.”
Originally hailing from Berkshire in the UK, Dawn’s foundations within the aesthetic industry came from stints in posh health clubs as a Beauty Therapist. After accidentally relocating permanently to Australia some years later, her dermal journey began after falling madly for an IPL machine (not literally).
Since studying, Dawn has worked alongside plastic surgeons and dermatologists alike, but her greatest asset is her ability to treat skin with a holistic approach which began back in the beauty days.
With a particular penchant for mixing modalities as well as healing from within, Dawn’s multifaceted approach is a daily inspiration.
With a sharp wit and inherently dry British sense of humour, Dawn is one of our punniest assets here at JV.
